History of Photography
The First Camera was important because the art has been around since the 5th century. but didn't come alive until the 11th century when a Iraqi scientist created the camera obscura, which didn't actually take pictures, but projected an image onto another surface. The First Permanent Images (Daguerreotype, Emulsion Plates, Dry Plates) were important because it was the first time time pictures could be captured for more than a few seconds. Some types of processes actually lead to the advancement of cameras and allowed them to be smaller and faster. Camera For Everyone was important because George Eastman made camera film in the form of a roll. that allowed cameras to be small enough to be handheld. the film size also allowed for most people to be able to afford a camera. The Horrors of War were important because it changed the way people viewed photography. More and more people were starting to steer away from portraits and move on to life as it happens. The Wonder of Instant Images was important because the Polaroid model 95 could take and process a photo in a minute and give you a photo in an instant.Advanced Image Control was important because it allowed some cameras to change out lenses with the SLR-type cameras.Introducing Smart Cameras was important because the point and shoot ability allowed many people to easily and accurately take photos. The Digital Age was important because it allowed photos to be stored digitally and has been adopted by SLR-types to become DSLR-type cameras. Though not everybody would agree, I want to argue that the point and shoot ability was the most significant step in the evolution of the camera. I have several reasons for arguing this point of view: My first reason is the point and shoot made the cameras simpler than ever to use and understand.A further reason is point and shoot made cameras very popular and the easiness to use only helped the hobby grow. Furthermore the point and shot got a lot of people into photography and the spike of interest only helped in the advancement of camera technology. Therefore, although some people might argue that the horrors of war is the most significant. because of the way the war changed the view on how to do photography. I have shown that point and shoot ability has done more for the greater good for cameras and photography
Mason,
ReplyDeleteBoth posts were great responses to the assignments. Two suggestions for the future: Enlarge your image for easier viewing and indent or included spaces in your written responses for easier readability. I look forward to having you again this semester.
